Review of Private Parts (1997) by Michael L — 12 Mar 2009
I was NOT a Stern fan when I saw this movie. To be honest, I am still not a big fan. But I was taken completely by surprise when I saw "Private Parts". There are obvious laughs in store, and very good ones at that.
It is a very funny movie. But it's also a very sensitive one, surprisingly. We learn that Howard Stern is a very soft, sensitive person deep down. His relationship with wife Alison, his desire to be somebody in the radio industry, and the measures he takes to earn ratings against a system that undermines him are all components to this great movie.
He was almost forced to become that raunchy shock jock that we know, as it would be the only way to stand out from other morning shows, while fighting a system that wants him ousted. It might or might not make you a new fan, but it's two hours of your life that will keep you laughing for days.
