Review of Private Benjamin (1980) by Corey M — 07 Jan 2008
YOu know, I've only seen this movie twice but I've always remembered it. The boot camp and army life may not be as realistic as it could be but I consider the ultimate girl power movie. She is a girl obsessed with idealistic love and marriage.
I love how she joins the army and is forced to become a bigger and independent person. I also love how she chooses marriage over the army and ultimately, and how the ending leaves no indication of her future.
All it indicates is her abandonment of her past weaknesses and flaws. My favorite scene is when she is in boot camp and is confronting her parents about going home, Goldie Hawn's face is priceless and extremely moving.
