Review of Prisoners (2013) by Jon S — 03 May 2014
( My grade B- ) Very grim yet engaging film this was. Prisoners is a probert title for this movie b/c everyone in it is trapped in their own specific way. Either by their situation, grief, state of mind, the law, disabilty, childhood trauma, & also literally just being trapped or imprisoned.
The movie moves along at a tense careful pace but you don't get bored b/c you are so engrossed in the drama of whether or not the 2 missing girls will be found. What seems like a simple kidnapping case turns into a much complex darker look at the affects on people who have experienced it before and what those who are going throught it now are willing to sacrafice to get back something they lost.
