Review of Prisoners (2013) by Scott W — 14 Nov 2015

If you are going to make a movie that is this hard to sit through, it better be pretty darn good. And it just isn't. There are too many times where I would question why someone would ever do what they are doing.

It makes no sense for Jake Gyllenhaal's character to be by himself in several crucial scenes with no other police presence. There are characters that are thrown in (like the priest) just to call into question who the kidnapper is, and when the movie is 2 and a half hours those parts need to just be cut.

And I like Hugh Jackman but his performance is really bad and over the top. I feel like this movie was trying to be like Zodiac, but did not even come close.
