Review of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) by Andrew W — 25 Dec 2011
Price of Persia: The Sands of Time is good action movie based the best selling video game but this movie is far from perfect. This movie is about prince Dastan and this other princess, Tamina, who have to keep this special device, The Sands of Time away from many bad people.
The Sand of Time is a device were if you touch a button on it goes back in time were only the person who touches knows what happened. Also on this journey these to are on the run from there own people after Dastan is framed for killing his father.
Let me just start out with I'm not that familiar with the Price of Persia games so I really don't know that much about it but I figured to try this movie out anyways. Usually most video games that turn into movies don't end up doing very well and usually I don't like them that much but to my surprise I actually liked this movie.
Most video game movie usually have a bad story, good action, and a bad cast but this move doesn't entirely suffer from that. Now the story isn't all that good but it's not bad because I kept reminding my self that this is based of a video game but I felt at many times this movie lacked a few things story wise.
The action in this movie was well done in this movie and makes it a pretty entertaining movie for people who don't care for the story. As for acting wise it isn't perfect but it'll work. Jake Gyllenhaal does a good job in this movie and from seeing a few snips of the Prince of Persia game I think he made a pretty good Dastan.
As for Gemma Arterton she wasn't that good but not that bad either but at times she just felt a bit annoying to me. I think she was just put in here for he ok looks but overall her performance is decent.
The rest of the cast is alright but nothing that sticks out in this movie. Overall Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is a good action film with ok story telling and alright acting.
