Review of Primer (2004) by Tamatai N — 28 May 2010
I'm actually at quite a loss for words after watching this. It takes a very rare film to grab me and hold me completely enthralled like this did. A fiercely intelligent and thought-provoking mindfuck of a film that stands as one of the most impressive independent productions I've ever seen.
The whole thing is superbly crafted (the cinematography, dialogue, acting and editing are brilliant) and always interesting. Sure, there are a few glitches here and there, but compared to some of the studio films of the past six years, this stands well above them as an absolute triumph of film-making and should be seen by anyone wanting an intelligent, edgy, engaging and mind-bending experience.
Simply awesome.
