Review of Primer (2004) by Devin W — 14 Feb 2011
While there are some slow scenes throughout the film there is no denying that this ultra-low budget, sci-fi film outdoes itself on nearly all levels, especially considering the minimal resources that it had.
Shane Carruth crafted this amazing, near perfect, sci-fi movie. The plot is perhaps the most confusing, yet amazing, plot that I have experienced in a movie and it gives you a mental challenge to think about for the days to follow.
The well crafted story throws so much at you and you can only pick up so many pieces in one viewing, which makes it exciting to watch over and over again. Being that the budget is low don't expect any flashy special effects so while this is an amazing sci-fi film expect to be more amazed by the story and less visually.
This movie offers a cerebral challenge to the viewer and I suggest you accept the challenge.
