Review of Prime (2005) by V T — 12 Aug 2010
I thought that Prime was a more than decent rom-com. I thought that Meryl Streep, Uma Thurman and Bryan Greenberg were fantastic. Meryl Streep is a star in every film. I liked the story and I think this film is different from other rom-coms. The film is about a 37 year old woman Rafi (Thurman) and a 23 year old guy David (Greenburg) who fall in love, but the age gap is constantly working against them. Little do they know that Rafi's therapist (Streep)is actually David's mother. The film depicts the problems with relationships where the age gap is so big and when religion becomes an issue in a relationship. I think the chemistry between Uma Thurman and Bryan Greenberg was really good and believable and I liked them as a couple. I thought this film was really funny as well; I found myself laughing quite a bit. Prime stands out from other rom-coms, it's not cheesy, cliche or predictable. I highly recommend this film despite the average reviews. I think it's worth far more.
Grade: A.
