Review of Primal Fear (1996) by Daniel A — 05 Jun 2011
A solid and absorbing courtroom thriller given extra weight by Edward Norton's Oscar-nominated, starmaking performance. He provides a showy turn that remains vastly entertaining, backed up by a good screenplay which plays up the narrative's several twists and intrigue-heavy plot-points.
Richard Gere also puts in a decent performance as a hard-nosed barrister, while Laura Linney shows promise in one of her earlier roles. All in all this is a well-acted and successfully paced movie with a familiar, no-nonsense approach that will allow it to be enjoyed for many more years to come.
