Review of Priest (2011) by Cort J — 03 Aug 2012
In the grim future, most of humanity live in massive cities thanks to a previous massive war against vampires. Thankfully it turns out that the vampires lost and now live in reservations because Priests are a kind of anti vampire slaying, Van-Helsing-esq ninja squad. With the war over people now happily remain in these hideous cities being thankful to the church. When rumours of vampires coming back with a master plan reach our hero (one of these priest ninjas) he plans to sort it out, however "the church" takes on the classic role often played by "village elders" "the mayor" or "the board" and refuses anyone investigate what could legitimately ruin everything insisting that it will never happen, yet when our hero goes rogue and investigates anyway, the same once hesitant board of the church is quick to order a whole gang of other priest ninjas back into action to hunt him down.
What follows is some predictable b-movie action with scenes that at times make the Resident evil series seem like the finest Shakespeare. Most elements you find can be found as parallels in other films and you'll see each shocking story twist from a mile away. If you take it as intended however, as a non meaningful action piece which, then you'll have a few minutes of fun with it as our holy pals dish out some Jesus justice on the vampire menace.
