Review of Priest (2011) by Alan Fong D — 25 Aug 2012
Based on the Korean â~manhwaâ(TM), the movie is set in the dull Western background where sci-fi elements and religion collides, creating an extraordinary alternate universe, and that's the problematic core.
Yes, Paul Bettany is totally rocking the title role, and the special-effects are quotidianly done in stylish manner. But that isn't sufficient to overshadow the movieâ(TM)s shaky pacing and pointless villainous motives.
Karl Urbanâ(TM)s character is a mess and Lily Collins plays an unconvincing damsel in distress. In The End, â~Priestâ(TM) is not setting its foot on any categorised movie genre, Itâ(TM)s not Western, sci-fi, religious or horror, itâ(TM)s a deformed leviathan of craven monstrosity and tiresome self-obliteration.
