Review of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) by Ethan G — 07 Feb 2016
Despite the lackluster reviews, I personally enjoyed "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." The film delivers exactly what you expect, and that includes sheer entertainment value. It's refreshing to see women (of that refined era) standing up for themselves and becoming warriors during an imminent zombie apocalypse. As a Jane Austen fan, it was amusing to see my favorite bits from the original source novel ("Pride and Prejudice") integrated with humorous zombie/fighting bits. The most surprising element was how violent a PG-13 movie can be these days. Lily James is a stand-out as the main heroine Elizabeth Bennett (who many have always aspired to be).
Main Consensus: "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" is by no means a perfect film, but it sure is great fun!
Grade: B.
