Review of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) by Ian G — 10 Apr 2016

An interesting and different take of two very dominant genres, the Jane Austen novel and the Zombie genre which is getting close to the back end of its popularity trend and was running out of new takes, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a solid and intriguing take on the popular Pride and Prejudice novel circling around Elizabeth Bennett, her sisters and Mr Bennett, and their circle of romances troubles and engagements while fighting the zombie apocalypse.

Lily James is engaging in the lead in her second notable role of late following Cinderella last spring and is supported fan genre favs in Matt Smith as a silly man of the cloth and Lena Hedley as the pirate Queen Victoria.

The Jane Austen elements are probably the more prominent tone of the proceedings and the zombies themselves don't conform to alot of the traditional tropes outside of the general look once they have gone all the way dead.

Interesting for late winter viewing, but one gets the feeling could have been cranked up a notch for more timeless effect. Not bad though.
