Review of Pride & Prejudice (2005) by Niloo R — 19 Aug 2012
This film is hands down my favourite live action film, EVER. i've seen it more than a million times and know every scene by heart. this is the ultimate romantic period film and it's so well done - it's the only film that can simultaneously satisfy the giddy little girl and the pretentious film student in me.
pride and prejudice is a wonderful story to begin with, but this film takes it to the next level. this has to be the only adapted film i've ever seen that surpasses the original source material. everything from the script to the casting to the cinematography is so beautiful and perfect and it captures the essence of the book so perfectly.
the film has everything from romance to comedy to emotional/thematic depth - it's everything I could hope for in a film wrapped into 2 hours of amazingness. this was the film that made want to be a filmmaker.
I can only hope to one day make something as truly wonderful as this.
