Review of Pride & Prejudice (2005) by Krystal C — 30 Jun 2018
The best adaptation by far! One of my all-time favourite movies! It captures the romance, wit, intelligence and passion of Jane Austen's classic.
I was pleasantly surprised by Macfadyen's performance. He brought out the sensitivity and vulnerability of Mr Darcy. He is so lacking to the task of unravelling his emotions that he really does not know what to do with himself. The despair in Macfadyen's eyes as he attempts to figure out what he can do next to clarify the misunderstandings is so agonizing. The way his voice catches when he actually does talk to her. The man is huge in status and standing but appears meager in her presence.
Keira Knightley did a fantastic job in portraying Elizabeth. She shines in this film. The chemistry between the two leads is truly compelling and also great acting by the supporting cast. Amazing music and cinematography. I only wish this movie was much longer!
