Review of Pride & Prejudice (2005) by Bren A — 14 Oct 2012
I have seen the BBC Mini Series so I wasn't really up for another adaptation (I haven't read the book yet!) but was made to watch it by my mother who is a huge fan. And guess what? It was actually quite good. The production is sumptuous with elegant photography and sublime locations. Keira Knightley as Elizabeth holds the drama together fabulously although her smile (too gleeful at times) was off putting. McFayden as Darcy was fantastic. The supporting cast is amazingly good. The pacing is perfect; the right amount of languor so as to evoke the period but not too slow. Joe Wright is the guy for literary adaptations.
High hopes on Anna Karenina now.
