Review of Pride and Prejudice (1940) by Kathleen Q — 07 Jun 2007
This Elizabeth had a good grasp on the 'irony' aspect of Elizabeth. But Olivier.. He was not Darcy. He was too nice, too approachable. The story was also changed. And Charolette was far prettier than Lizzie.
Also, the dresses were not time period dresses. The ettiquette did not match the times either. I don't care that it's Olivier, he is not a good Darcy. I said it. What? Macfayden IS darcy. People only say that Olivier is perfect for Darcy because he is, in fact, Olivier.
