Review of Pride and Glory (2008) by Peter D — 13 Apr 2013
During it's opening sequence, I said to myself, "This might be an interesting film." And then, SCS(Shaky Camera Syndrome) kicked in and I felt my hope waning. However, the story grew on me, and the characters became more and more interesting; particularly Colin Farrell's character.
The only reason this film has four stars is because of the performances. The SCS is almost unbearable and the dialogue isn't particularly well written(although there is a brief rip-off to a famous line in 'The Godfather: Part II'). The story gets interesting, and the characters end up in situations that get more and more thrilling and suspenseful. Only to end with a dissatisfying ending in which the most interesting and pivotal characters aren't concluded.
Such things make me sit and wonder: "How could they think that was okay?" But, the plot twists are more than satisfactory. There is a most frightful scene involving a newborn baby that the villian threatens to kill with a hot iron. Scenes like that made me want to jump into the screen and punch the lights out of certain, despicable characters.
This was a short one, I've pretty much said everything I've got to say. Go see the movie, it's some pretty good stuff.
