Review of Pride (2014) by Theapplegnome — 17 Jan 2015
Dramatic, suspenseful and emotional. That’s Pride.
It’s extremely fun to see how the LGBT rights movement and the rights we take for granted today began. Pride is in fact one of the best movies I have seen that’s based on a true story, and the movie does indeed illustrate how hard it can be to be other than “normal”, especially in the 80s. But also what people close, and loved ones thinks about it. One of the main actors; Joe is excellent. We see him develop during the whole movie and he keeps getting more and more self-confidence. He also gets a bigger and a more important role in the movie. That’s wonderful. I actually felt really close to Joe, just the look in his eyes felt me closer to him than any of the other characters. The actors in Pride are superb, especially George MacKay, Imelda Staunton and Bill Nighy.
There are surprisingly no flaws in this movie, and it really is one of the best movies that are based on a true story. It’s also very underrated!
Pride gets a 7.5.
