Review of Pride (2014) by Lee P — 28 Nov 2014
Though it seemed like the miners' strike was done to death in the 1990s, the combination of a tangential aspect and killer execution provide all the reason needed to go back one more time. Works best when it's content to tell a gentler tale and flounders a bit when it attempts to shoehorn in a more traditional protagonist/antagonist relationship, as well as when it drags in traditional gay cinema tropes of HIV and homophobic violence.
But a cast of this calibre at their best can be forgiven an awful lot.
