Review of Pride (2014) by Chantal V — 21 Jan 2015
This was such a great movie that I'm going to watch it again this weekend. I didn't know about the true story the movie's based on - but what an impressive one it is. Gays helping miners and miners helping gays, a most unlikely but true combination.
It even resulted it getting gay rights on the political agenda of the labour party. Wow. The acting is rather impressive - although I can imagine the Welsh accents of the non-Welsh actors might have annoyed some native Welsh.
It's commendable that such a difficult topic (the 80s weren't necessarily the greatest time to be gay... if ever) can result in such an uplifting and hugely entertaining film like this. It's funny, heartfelt, positive yet real and thought-provoking.
Loved every minute.
