Review of Pride (2014) by Ryan Y — 19 Mar 2015
If I'm honest, I'd avoided this one. In spite of glowing reviews I didn't think it would be my cup of tea. Strap me in a 36,000 feet for ten hours, though, and I'll give most things a go.
Boy, were my opinions of this full so far off base. The trailers don't do this justice, it's not (quite) as candy-coated as I was expecting. And for someone who didn't know the ending, I found it exceptionally moving.
I didn't cry, but I wanted to go up to them all and say "well done." To put aside one's preconceived prejudices is one thing. For an entire town or country to do it in such a way is exceptional.
What a great story.
