Review of Priceless (2006) by Tony L — 22 Feb 2009
Though the premise of the poor boy winning the heart of the material girl is hardly anything new, its pithy, whimsical execution in 'Priceless' give this French import a charm all its own. Pierre Salvadori infuses his story with liveliness and wit and lets it run, eschewing the syrupiness that might plague a Hollywood version of this story.
Gad Elmaleh (Jean) and Audrey Tautou (Irene) play off each other well, and the lean, taut script adds a unique wrinkle to an otherwise familiar tale when Jean stumbles upon an unexpected twist of fate.
