Review of Prey (2022) by Calvincrack — 06 Aug 2022

I thought it was great, especially as reboots/seqeuels go. This should net a lot more work for the talent involved. It's a solid genre picture that delivers well on the premise of Predator vs. Native American tribe, which is a very cool idea.

Sometimes cool screenplay ideas don't survive the rigorous detail required to flesh them out into actual films, but this one manages by keeping true to what makes the idea cool and paying it off repeatedly.

Prey could achieve cult classic status particularly due to its unfortunate distribution fate. Without getting into the corporate politics of why this wasn't released in theaters, I'll just say that it's a theater-worthy experience unlike many movies which wind up with a similar fate.
