Review of Pretty Woman (1991) by Ryan V — 12 Oct 2012
Richard Gere plays a corporate shark who hires a "hooker with a heart of gold" (Julia Roberts) to sate him in the wake of a nasty break-up. A Cinderella treatment and an exposure to unconventional tenderness results in a level of intimacy unknown to either participant.
Of course, the nature of their arrangement threatens to derail their relationship before its meaning can be fully grasped. I'm not one for the romantic comedies, but Pretty Woman is well acted and highly quotable.
Tons of terrible movies have tried to imitate the lucrative formula for this one, but the same thing could be said of equally beloved films like Star Wars, Die Hard, Halloween, or Stagecoach.
