Review of Pretty Woman (1990) by Craig D — 21 May 2014
When I first heard of this movie, I shrugged it off as a shallow flick with nothing to offer. If someone told you to watch a romantic comedy movie involving some hooker and a douchey businessman, wouldn't you be turned off? Well, I definitely was. Except when I actually watched it, I realized that Vivian Ward wasn't just 'some hooker' and Edward Lewis wasn't just another 'douchey business tycoon'. Besides the shallow premise, the plot was pretty substantial. It can be described as a typical 'feel-good' movie at best. The characters were dynamic and sensible - and the acting was flawless. I was impressed by Julia Roberts' performance: how she captured small nuances of the behavior of an uneducated prostitute.
A beautiful movie and beautiful story.
