Pretty Woman is one of those films that really caught me off good. I was expecting your standard romantic film with two cliched characters who you know will fall for each other from the very beginning. Whilst I was partly right with Pretty Woman, it pleasantly surprised me by the script and the two lead characters.

I felt that the characters couldn't have had better performers than Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. Some people may argue and say that Roberts didn't have the right look to be playing a prostitute, but this is where her acting comes in. The expected story is there of the two characters falling in love, but the main focus of it is the comedic side of Julia Roberts character trying to understand and fit in within Gere's posh and wealthy world. Not only are there some great scenes here that do make you chuckle, but the script and performances gives them so much character, that you end up falling for them both personally. It was also nice to get some decent background to the characters to help you understand what really influenced them.

As mentioned earlier, the only down points I have are some of the cliched attributes of the scenes. However, the positives outweigh the negatives and you are provided with a sharp and funny movie with a wonderful soundtrack to add.
