Review of Pretty in Pink (1986) by Mark D — 05 Mar 2011
I am, as a rule, a big John Hughes fan, but I hated this. Much more of a serious slant than some of his other efforts he wrote around this time, the film suffers for me for being totally contrived and uninteresting.
What the film did prove to me is that the 80s really was in its own little bubble. So many things I found wrong with this and I still dont get what the big deal is with Molly Ringwald. On a plus, it was nice to see Annie Potts in something other than 'Ghostbusters'.
I would put this Hughes scripted flick in the same bracket as 'Curly Sue'.
