Review of Premonition (2007) by Nels W — 03 Nov 2009
I would have given this 5 stars if it weren't for the spiritual aspect they tacked on to explain Bullock's time traveling. I think they could have gone without an explanation and gotten pretty much the same reaction from viewers.
Also, I don't see "lack of explanation" being the same thing as a "plot hole" but maybe my predisposition to anything remotely time-travel-y makes me more ready to accept. I watched The Time Machine (1960) just before this and that had absolutely no explanation of how the time travel was accomplished, and yet many hail it as a classic.
While Premonition is certainly not a classic, I actually liked it better than The Time Machine because, while both were preachy with their themes, Premonitions "moral" (if you will) is at least something that every day people can take in and relate to.
