Review of Premonition (2007) by John R — 08 Apr 2014
A good idea, ruined.
When the real-life doc on the dvd extras is more interesting than the movie, take note - thats a bad premonition.
Poor direction, a sloppy set-up,and especially no emotional core - when it does come together at the end, its too late -.
No one cares.
Who can even root for Bullock when you dont understand her situations or her reactions to anything?
Ya cant leave your audience emotionally unestablished.
One strike.
Nor add a tacked-on happy ending.
That crap wont work.
Two strikes.
And who cares if they kill off the cold fish husband - it rang like bad acting instead of an emotionally conflicted husband.
Strike three.
Note to director -.
Let the audience in on the secret with clues, visual and otherwise.
If only the audience understood her emotions in the order played out in the movie, then we'd be invested - if WE get her, then its on.
I watched this movie constantly trying to fix the whole conundrum.
By the end, sadly, it was too late.
..Sigh..
2 out of 5 dead birds.
