Review of Predestination (2013) by Michael R — 15 Mar 2015
An Australian film that doesn't spend its running time trying to be "Australian", in fact, nothing about this film suggests it is an Australian film.
This Sci-Fi head scratcher is the sort of time travel movie I enjoy, one that makes you think, and explores the complexity of time travel.
The plot is completely insane. You'll spend the first half in a complete fog of confusion as you try to figure out what the hell is going on, only to start to realise what it all means, and end up still scratching your head at the eventual answer (which is unusual to say the least).
Imported Ethan Hawke and local Sarah Snook are both great in their roles. The low budget is not a problem, as the film doesn't reply on special effects, and has one of the simplest but brilliant time machines you'll ever see.
