Review of Predator 2 (1990) by Jorge G — 19 Sep 2014
Predator 2 is an enjoyable if somewhat middling sequel to one of the best action films of the 80s. The transition from the jungle to downtown Los Angeles sounds like an interesting concept but also dilutes the tension more from the more isolated locale of the first film.
Danny Glover is well cast as Harrigan in the lead role and Gary Busey is over-the-top as always which does work. Stephen Hopkins' direction isn't as tight as John McTiernan's though yet the action is a lot of fun to watch and the effects, whilst dated, do do their job.
As a standalone action film, it provides some good entertainment but it pales in comparison to its predecessor.
