Review of Predator 2 (1990) by Jarrod H — 06 Aug 2010
So, I'm not entirely sure how many people feel this way, but I LOVE Predator 2 even more than the original film. For starters, an awesome cast of Danny Glover, Bill Paxton, and Gary Busey lays a foundation that is hard to beet. Plus, the film is a brutal exploration of urban life and crime from the inception of the film, which opens with shots of what appears to be a jungle but then tilts up to reveal that it is merely the vegetation surrounding the wasteland that is Los Angeles. Against a background of South American drug lords, supernaturally powered Jamaican mafioso, and heat beyond the normal person's ability to bear, the Predator alien returns to reek havoc upon those who dare to cross its path. Revealing more about the Predator's background and featuring a non-stop action, thriller, detective plot, Predator 2 is sci-fi/horror cinema at its best.
