Artistically, it's half the movie milk is, but is a kid's crayola draw-ring any less important than the work of a master. the intent is the same, to affect the viewer, and "prayers for bobby" accomplishes its mission.
also, i've had a secret love affair with sigourney since the planet earth series. she stepped up and in front of the camera this time and was as memorable as that shot of the seals leaping out of the ocean.
you know... that scene.
