This was a great movie. I think people forget this is an intro movie so you have to develop characters and plots. By the time it mattered, I did care about the Rangers and their characters. It was VERY clear they had some jokes in there early to set the stage of expectations that you are NOT seeing a run of the mill Power Rangers flick.
Personally I thought they kept them tasteful and I'd still let my 8 and 11 year old see it. If you went and saw this without loving Power Rangers as a youth I bet it was much harder to break out of your likely bad first impression of the show.
Also its Power Rangers, if you were expecting the likes of a George Lucas film, you just had too high of expectations.
