Review of Power Rangers (2017) by Monsterocket — 24 Mar 2017
Stellar performances from Banks (as the surprisingly terrifying Rita Repulsa) and RJ Cyler (the quirky and lovable Blue Ranger). Embracing its roots as a message of inclusion, cooperation and perseverance, Power Rangers executed for newer audiences while hiding plenty of Easter eggs for longtime fans.
Furthering this concept of inclusion for today's audience, Power Rangers introduces us to the first openly gay superhero on the big screen (a possible nod and apology to the way production treated the original Blue Ranger, David Yost, for his sexuality).
The Power Rangers brand found its true voice in this film and I'll be impatiently awaiting a sequel.
