Review of Powder Blue (2009) by Jack K — 16 Feb 2010
If you liked the movie crash u will like this movie, its not as good as Crash but its got all the same elements. The acting I thought in this movie was amazing and believable. Jessica Biel portrays a desperate mother trying to survive and pay her sons medical bills while strippings (yes u see her naked).
She meets Ray Liotta who also plays his character with perscions as a sick father trying to find his daughter. An unknown Edward Redmayne does a phenomenal job as a strange shy nerdy kid who is just trying to find companionship.
There seems to be 2 stories that don't mix in however. Biel, Liotta, and a few others all come togheter in the OOOOOO! moment at the end but forest whitaker characters story isn't even related to the other.
That is just to forceful, come on just one conjoining story not 2 seperate ones. The movie has great sound, and sound fx (on the bus u hear the door slamming open and closed) and photography elements.
Its not as surperior as crash, the story lacks, the coming together lacks, and not everyone comes together or influences each other at the end. The acting however is great.
