Review of Powder Blue (2009) by David U — 18 Jun 2011
My random movie selection system seems to have an affinity for stories about broken people trying to find their way to something resembling normality. "Powder Blue" is definitely a hard movie to watch and it is not something you'd choose for an afternoon of empty entertainment, but it has that something that will keep viewer's interest alive throughout the story.
Like most movies of this type (small indie productions where directors are trying to make their name as "artists"), it is a bit heavyhanded with symbolism and a little to pretentious to feel completely natural, but the cast ) is making it work nevertheless.
(a bit amazed that they managed to get so many actors of highest quality in this one) While on that topic, it is probably the only movie where you'll get the chance to see Jessica Biel actually act and as it turns out she is quite decent.
Also, the movie has quite amazing soundtrack. All said and done, a decent flick for a rainy afternoon.
