I worked at a movie theatre for a long time and subsequently saw basically every movie that came out between 1993-1998 and this is the only movie I have ever been to that received a standing ovation at the end.
It is a great story but I was kind of hoping he would go a little bit more "Carrie" on the townsfolk, and it came out around the same time as "Phenomenon" which I liked more.
