Review of Poseidon (2006) by Brandon W — 30 Sep 2010
Lucky Larry: What the hell did you do to all these people?
Despite negative critical reviews from film critics, I actually quite enjoyed Poseidon. Even though the acting isn't all that, the dazzling special effects are still a real treat to watch. This film still is a great movie to watch on a Saturday night with the Surround Sound blasting. I try to watch this movie every New Year's Eve respectively.
The cast in this is great even though the acting isn't the greatest we've seen. I really did think that Josh Lucas and Kurt Russell were both excellent in this film. I also liked Emmy Rossum's character. I actually did care for some of the characters even though they could have been better developed.
Overall, the special effects are what I really, really liked about this movie. I don't think I'll ever see such an intense capsizing scene like I did in this film. There are a lot of great intense moments throughout the film. Poseidon is without a doubt one of the most satisfactory movies with great special effects and decent plot.
