Review of Port of Call (1948) by Stig S — 11 Feb 2008
Bergman's first collaboration with cinematographer, Gunnar Fisher (of WILD STRAWBERRIES and THE SEVENTH SEAL fame) is quite a treat. Deals with love, sexuality, abortion and doesn't do so in a manner that is insulting to its audience.
Bergman was still a fan of happy endings at this period...
