Review of Population 436 (2006) by Kevin R — 22 Jun 2009
Numbers rule the universe.
Rockwell Falls is a town that believes firmly in having a population of exactly 436 people. The census sends Steve Kady to Rockwell Falls Township to determine if they have all of the government resources they need. Shortly after arriving, the town decides to make Steve one of their own?which means someone has to go. Will Steve give into the town?s plans or will he escape to alert the rest of the world?
?You can never have too many friends in this town.?
Michelle Maxwell MacLaren, director of episodes of the X-Files, Without a Trace, John Doe, Law & Order, and Breakin Bad, delivers Population 436. The storyline for this picture has a few original elements; however, it has similar characteristics to The Wickerman. The scenes could have been delivered a little better and in a more intense fashion. The acting was better than anticipated and the cast includes Jeremy Sisto, Fred Durst, Charlotte Sullivan, and Leigh Ennis.
?I?m so happy and blessed. Thank you for this.?
This film is currently airing on Showtime and my neighbors recommended it to me and my wife. We happened to catch this on TV this evening and while it had some interesting elements, it felt too much like a made for television movie. There were no gory scenes or intense horror sequences. I thought that this film had the potential to feel a little like The Children from the Corn but it fell short of my expectations. This is a film worth catching if nothing else is on and I would not go out of my way to see this movir.
?Never any crime in Rockwell Falls.?
Grade: C+.
