Review of Pontypool (2009) by John T — 29 Mar 2010
This was pretty good. A total 'almost' movie. It had a new look on the whole zombie thing. It was pretty suspenseful and spooky. The acting was pretty great. I really enjoyed the slow turning and wondering who was becoming a zombie. The atmosphere was great setting an awesome mood. The sounds of the zombies and weird ambient craziness was amazing. All in all it had a lot going for it.
Now for the negatives. I wasn't really scared at all. The reason why people were becoming zombies and how it was spread was pretty lame. It was a total tease (the whole thing takes place at a radio station so you hear all these things happening, but don't get to see them. This totally adds to the mood except after a while it gets a bit played out and you would like to see something). The ending was a bit disappointing.
All in all it was almost great, but fell short. It was entertaining for the 90 minutes, but nothing spectacular.
