Review of Pompeii (2014) by Jahan A — 01 Jul 2014
The script is severely lacking; a high school student could have done a more thorough job. It felt as if the film had no art direction, or any direction for that matter. Cinematography was definitely a weakness, which is actually a feat considering the vast scenery and sets that were created.
With such a famous and historic tale, Anderson had the opportunity to do so much with the story but instead half-asses his way through 1hr&45mins. A tremendous flub with horrible casting/acting- with the exception of Kit Harrington and Sutherland- and action sequences straight out of an energy drink commercial.
I don't think it can fully be considered a B-movie as it did not create large revenue; audiences probably anticipated the schlub that is this complete train wreck.
