Review of Pompeii (2014) by El T — 12 Oct 2014
I rented Pompeii last night. it was more show than go. The film seemed to try to be like HBO's Rome, with a dash of Spartacus but it didn't execute either very well. The characters two dimensional and the chemistry between Harington and Browning felt non-existent.
I didn't care whether or not the characters lived or died. Furthermore, the film felt rushed. At one point, Milo (Kit Harington) was getting beat with a whip, the next moment he's in full gladiator gear jumping and rolling around like nothing happened.
Timeline wise, it was the next day. It failed to make me emotionally invest in the characters and their situation. It did spark my interest in the historic Pompeii and for that, I gave it two stars.
