Pompeii was such an incredible rip-off of Gladiator, starting with the black acquaintance who battles on the same side as the main character. I thought the rest was original, which was crap, but then I see critics writing "Gladiator meets Titanic," which does make sense for the other half.
The poor boy saving the wealthy girl near the disaster.
