Review of Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986) by Grzegorz W — 28 Sep 2009
Ineffective sequel that takes just about everything that made the original great out of the movie. They give some new, uneeded explanation to the haunting, overdo some silly effects (killer braces!? and possesed tequila worms?), and take the story in an overall poor direction.
The absence of Dominique Dunne was unfortunately unavoidable, but pretending her character never existed was a poor choice. In the long haul it is a minor change but it bugged me. Too much is implied and then unexplained and the things that are explained are unneccesary! Overall it's a HUGE step down from the first film and pretty pointless to watch.
Julien Beck is good in his last role and is about the only thing I liked here.
