Review of Poltergeist (2015) by Jason D — 01 Jun 2015
If I can totally honest, I thought I was going to absolutely hate on this movie. This movie is not bad, it just wasn't scary. There was nothing wrong with the filmmaking or the directing of this film.
The acting was really good. I really like Sam Rockwell, he is usually the best part of anything he is in. Jared Harris has a great performance. The problem with this movie is that there was nothing new.
It tried to recapture those iconic moments from the original, but it fails terribly. This movie was just a bunch of CGI mess that takes away from the believability, and the fact that the little girl never gets scared and walks towards the closet with the demons never makes any sense.
The original "Poltergeist" scared the Hell out of me when I was a kid and is still one of the scariest movies of all time. But, it has been borrowed from so much that there is nothing fresh or new in this version.
This is an entertaining movie and I did find some enjoyment. It is just not scary and I will watch the original when I want to watch "Poltergeist". This really was a remake that didn't need to happen.
