Review of Poltergeist (2015) by Denny N — 02 Nov 2015
When the viewer is introduced into the movie, you see and family of three kids and two parents that move into a new house. The family it a bit broke, as said in the movie when the dad is laid off. Soon after, everyone starts to experience odd things in the house. Their youngest daughter Maddy begins to talk to imaginary friends, or so the family thinks. It's not long before the spirits wreak havoc in the home, holding Maddy captive and forcing the parents to consult a team of parapsychologists who battle for the girl's freedom.
The movie overall was okay and had you immersed into the movie. There were many scenes though that I thought could've been done better. The movie felt more sci-fi like than a scary movie. Besides some of the scenes that showed weakness in the movie, it was alright.
There were also some noticeable scenes that should be pointed out in the film. There was the clown scene that freaks out the people who have a phobia for them. The worm scene was also really good because it shows the viewer that weird things are happening in the home. The last major scene that caught the audience into a breath taking moment involved a scene with a power drill.
In general, the movie was good. The acting of the characters matched what was expected of the movie. I didn't like many of the effects put into the movie. The effects made the movie seem more funky and not as scary. The certain scenes though put me on the edge of my seat. If you want to see this movie then you should, and you shouldn't want to watch this movie because it doesn't match the movie in the past.
