Of course I knew there was no way in hell this would be as good as the original but I expected this to totally suck. fortunately, I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would, and It didn't suck as bad as I thought it would be.

it's entertaining in its own right and pays some competent homage and respect to the original Poltergeist. it was pretty derivative and cliche but I thought Sam Rockwell was good and what the little girl finds on "the other side" was actually pretty creepy and well done.

I had fun with it and was entertained, but it's definitely not a great one and there wasn't really a reason why Poltergeist had to be remade.
